The Guide's Cabin

The Guide's Cabin is a one-bedroom private chalet with double Jacuzzi, distant lake view, and wood-burning fireplace.

The Details

Nestled next to a small stream with a distant, picturesque lake view, we replicated this cabin from the original “Guides Cabin.” It is symbolic of the Great Camp tradition, where key staff and guides stayed on the resort. There were great Adirondack pioneers in the 19th century who were your guides in so many ways, from fishing and hunting, to survival skills in the Great Woods. This cabin was built for two, with one-room living/bedroom with cathedral ceiling, Jacuzzi tub and wood-burning fireplace, and defines intimacy in a simple, hand-crafted luxurious way. We often refer to this cabin as our “honeymoon cabin.”

Disconnect from Stress & Reconnect with Nature

Though our location in the woods and on the water creates a rejuvenating destination alone, there is no WiFi, TVs, or phones in our lodgings to ensure a serene stay with a focus on relaxation, mindfulness, and making meaningful connections. We encourage you to unplug from the stresses of daily life and instead plug into the sights and sounds of nature.

However, we understand that complete disconnection may not be an option for all our guests. For your convenience, we provide complimentary WiFi in the Main Lodge lobby and gazebo.

Additionally, cell phone carriers that use Verizon towers do have some service and LTE/data coverage.

The Story

We are the oldest continually operating Great Camp in the Adirondack Park, built by Cathy Fisher-Otis Hohmeyer's family in 1886. As an iconic great lodge in the sylvan woods and water at that time, guests stayed several weeks or a whole season. Thus, the Lodge provided a wealth of experiences, from guided nature-based experiences to social gatherings of guests with local culinary flair. Guides were housed on the property, and the Guide's cabin is a replica of the original design, perfect for an intimate couple's escape. Guides are an essential component of Adirondack life, and still are to this day!
