Winter Stay, Speakeasy, & Sleigh Ride

You’ll need a password to get in and we may be raided by a Prohibition Copper! Lantern-lit sleigh rides, warming fires in family built lodgings, and soul-warming foods.

The Adirondack Great Lodge Experience

As one of the last of its kind, we honor the lore of the Adirondack Great Camps which were all about immersive experiences. Our family provides not just Adirondack lodging, but a themed seasonal experience for you to discover our nature and reconnect with yours.

A wide view of the 1886 Stagecoach Dining Room decorated with original Adirondack decor, hand-painted glasses, and Speakeasy accents.
Percheron Draft Horses Jasper and Fly from Lucky Clover Sleigh Rides round a corner of the nature trails, lit by a kerosene lantern, at the Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat.
An aerial view of a frozen Lake Clear during the winter as the sunsets over St. Regis Mountain.
A guest at the Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat snowshoes through the wooded nature trails as snow lightly falls.
The Main Lodge Driveway and entrance illuminated by wagon wheels and a large Christmas tree.

Shh...You'll Need A Password To Get In

We were open during the 1920s and some interesting things happened here in these Sylvan woods, a mere 2 hours away from those Canadian rum runners and those of us who had “spirit(s)”! Some which we will tell you, others we’ll leave you clues to discover. And speaking of history, as now the oldest operating lodge in the 6 million acre Adirondack Park, beginning in 1886 with Cathy (Fisher-Otis, now Hohmeyer) family who conceived it as a stagecoach inn, we keep this National Geographic Traveler award winning “sense of place,” with lantern-lit sleigh rides! The result is a magical, mysterious and fun place to re-live an iconic Adirondack winter experience (and we may the only ones left where you can do this in one place, so book now!)

A Crackling Fire & A Place to Snuggle

Your own secluded chalets hand-crafted by 3 generations of family. Contemplate and rejuvenate from the crackling embers of your own fireplace or book a lake-view suite with bubbling Jacuzzi.

The Writer's Cabin Master Bedroom, shown with a king bed and Adirondack decor and bedding.
The exterior of the November Moon Chalet at the Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat during the winter as snow lightly falls.

Speakeasy Dinner Experience One Evening

Explore one of the last original Adirondack Lodges with a 3-course Speakeasy Dinner. You'll need a password to get in, and we might even be raided by a 1920s Copper!

A Winter Speakeasy Experience

You will need a password to get in, but you’ll have to find the hidden door first. Once in the 1920’s Speakeasy with immense fireplace beware- we may be raided! It was illegal to drink during Prohibition, you know. Luckily for you, we have hidden tables…provided you can find them of course. A 1920s dinner awaits inspired from the original Lodge menu in the Stagecoach dining room.

Additional Information

Looking to book the Sleigh Ride & Speakeasy Experience without staying with us? You can do so by clicking here once the schedule is posted to the public. Provided the Sleigh Rides are happening, our lodging guests are always guaranteed a seat.

  • The lantern-lit sleigh rides at the Lodge are provided through local farms. As proceeds go to them and the rides are availability, regulation, and weather dependent, the included sleigh ride ticket in our Stay & Speakeasy Experience Package will be confirmed upon your arrival and cannot be guaranteed until that point.
