The Story

Great Camps were known for their uniqueness; No two are alike. Unfortunately, only a few are left open to the public in the entire Adirondack Park.

Ours is a unique blend of Adirondack pioneering traditions from Cathy's family, who built the Lodge as a stagecoach inn, to three generations of Hohmeyer's with their Old World roots. Throw in the eras of Adirondack history the Lodge went through, from the Cure Cottage days to the time of the Great Camps, and you can feel the warmth and laughter of generations of guests.

Murals are such a large part of our history, and we were adamant about having one, so when it came time to refurbish the room, well, what an opportunity. So an iconic mural is on the outside wall framing a window tied into a birch tree branch that extends over the bed and is born the Birch room!
