Taste of Germany Entrees

Old World Classics

Chicken Schnitzel

From an Old World medieval family recipe, Chicken is hand-cut, hand-pounded,
dipped in egg and fresh seasoned breadcrumbs, then sautéed in real butter until just crispy.

Kasseler Rippchen

Pork is lightly smoked and slow-roasted.
Served with sauerkraut and apples; a German Oktoberfest favorite.

Lodge Garden Vegetable Strudel

Seasonal vegetables accent a chopped spinach/chard and broccoli base. Seasoned
with salt, pepper, coriander, dill, and basil; topped with freshly melted local cheese.

Adirondack/Old World Sauerbraten

A bottom round of beef is marinated for 72 hours in vinegar and wine with vegetables.
It is then slow-roasted, cooked through, and from the juices a red wine sauce is made.

Adirondack Alps Favorites

Salmon or Veal Schnitzel

In the same style as our Chicken schnitzel, a fillet of Salmon or Veal is lightly
pounded and sautéed in real butter with herbs, spices, and fresh breadcrumbs.

Ernst’s All Natural Roast Duckling

A classic dish from Hohmeyer Sr. All natural duckling is slow roasted
whole, then hand-cut into quarters and placed underneath the grill until crisp.

Old World Food Hub

We are going back to our “Common Roots” when in the 1800’s the Lodge was a Stagecoach Inn, Post Office and Trading Post operated by Cathy’s family! Adding in 3 generations of the Hohmeyer’s Old World family and you have an opportunity to keep those pioneering, local food traditions alive adding in an Old World flair.

Take part in the Lake Clear Lodge's expanding way for families and consumers to know where to go to get farm fresh foods on a scheduled basis for pick up, as well as to get fresh cooked foods from those products.

Freshly Cooked, Traditional Old World Food

Chef Cathy’s family built the Lake Clear Lodge in 1886, sold it and eventually Ernest’s European family purchased it nearly 80 years later. This history unknown until after Cathy & Ernest were married. This fate stirs our cuisine of Adirondack pioneering roots and Old World essences. This is blended with Cathy’s signature “nutritional energetics.” It redefines food and cooking through a greater holistic recipe to encompass the fusion of our body, mind and spirit.
