The Cure Cottage Days

Tourism is not the Adirondacks oldest economies; wellness is. Beginning with the Native Americans and their tonics for the early Europeans and culminating with the Cure Cottage era, our region became known as the Healing Woods.

It wasn’t just the air or the therapeutic qualities of the balsam and pine, there is a magical and spiritual presence here that attracted many including the philosopher Emerson, the scientist Einstein, Robert Lewis Stevenson, and others. Today, Chef Cathy Hohmeyer continues this tradition with groundbreaking work in what she calls “Nutritional Energetics.” Fireside chats range from Cure Cottage storytelling to helpful hints on how to “up the vibe of your food.”
